Re: (ASCEND) Frame on Pipeline
Hi Geoff,
Does your P50 have the switch on the back panel? According to my users
guide only the Pipelines with the switch provide serial WAN support. The
guide goes on to say the signalling protocol for the serial WAN port is
V.35 and the electrical interface is RS-232 - therefore the electrical
signal needs to be converted from RS-232 to V.35 - using an adapter/cable.
Then you would use the V.35 connection to connect to the port of whatever
device (CSU/DSU) that connects to the Frame Relay line from the Telco.
I've never done this configuration and from looking at a catalog of
adapter/cables it seems an DB9/RS-232 to V.35 is an odd combination so you
may first have to convert the DB9 to DB25 and then to V.35.
You may try calling or sending an E-mail to Ascend/Lucent support and
clarify all this before spending any money on cables/adapters - CSU etc.
and see if they have a recommendation of what has worked for them.
