(ASCEND) PPP on MAX

Hi folks,
on the MAX 6000 Manual Network Configuration Guide I´ve read on the page 2-25 (
Understanding Digital Modem Parameters ) and 3-49 ( Configuring terminal-server
connections ) that if the dial-in call is a Async PPP the Terminal Server
forward that call to MAX Bridge/Router module, so the Terminal Server does not
handle dial-in Async PPP calls.
But on the page 3-50 ( Connection Authentication Issues ) says that the Terminal
Server handle the dial-in async PPP call and perform authentication issues.
So which is the module on the MAX 6000 that handle dial-in PPP calls? MAX
Bridge/Router or Terminal Server?
And about authentication? Is the Terminal Server or MAX Bridge/Router that
handle authentication ( PAP or CHAP ) for async PPP calls?
Does anyone can help me?
Thank you,
Marcio Pilotto
