(ASCEND) user selected ip adress from pool
Is there a way to set up an Ascend box (specifically 4048 & TNT)
so that it will only allow dialed in users to use IP addresses
out of the configured pools BUT it will give them the address
they request provided it is one of the pool addresses and is
not currently in use? In other words, the user can request
a specific IP, which the Ascend will approve if it is in
one of the pools and is not in use, or else the Ascend will
reject the request and hand off an address of its choice as
usual.
One of my users has reported that he gets this sort of behavior from
another ISP that he is subscribed to, which supposedly uses Ascend
gear as well, but he does not get this behavior from our Ascend
gear.... we just always give him whatever address we want to, regardless
of whether or not the one he requests is valid and available.
I haven't really researched this at all yet, but I figured I'd throw
a query out to this list to see if anyone was already familiar
with this sort of thing.
Thanks for your time.
