(ASCEND) IP Pool Question

I recently set up a filtering proxy for my users. I want to set up a
separate pool of IP addresses that the Max 4048 pulls from for the users
that purchase the filtering. I am using the Cistron radius, and can tell
the Max which pool to use via the Ascend-Assign-IP-Pool attribute. The
problem I have is that when I set up the pool in the Max, it started to
give me a problem with other users logging in. They were getting problems
like "Error 720" and "Error 6XX", which usually indicate a problem with
obtaining an IP address. The addresses that were being assigned were out
of the address pool 1 and 2, which I want for the "normal" users. I am
setting up the pool 3 for the "filtered" users, and don't want this pool
used, unless the Max gets the "Ascend-Assign-IP-Pool = 3" response from
radius. Here are the questions:

1. Is there something special I have to do to make pools 1 and 2 be the
"default" pools and pool 3 be "untouched"?

2. What would have caused the errors my users were getting when I set up
the additional pool for the filtered users? (BTW, my radius accounting
showed that they were being logged in OK).

3. What additional information do you need to offer advice?
