(ASCEND) Max 4xxx

Is there a way to 'Nindy' a Max 4004?  Or some other way to restore what
might be a corrupted Flash?  I can't get anything to come up properly
(regardless of Terminal Console Speed settings) other than gobblity gook on
the console screen. I've tried all port speed settings, nothing came up
with any type of configuration screen, just random characters.
