SUMMARY > Re: (ASCEND) MAX 4004 with V6.0.2 can no longer take Windows NT connections

Matt,
	thanks for the reply. This has turned out to be a nightmare for
us. We have spent most of the day talking with Ascend Tech support and
they have no answer for us. I have taken your suggestion and we have
solved the problem. This will be helpful for the many who run into this
problem.

SYNOPSIS :

Stock Windows NT Server/Workstation V4.0 with SP3 would be disconnected in
the following way :

1) with LCP extensions on it would take roughly 15 seconds
2) with LCP extensions off it would take roughly 6 seconds
3) in both 1) and 2), MP=Yes was set in Answer->Encaps.

SOLUTION :

The solution is two fold :

1) set MP=No in Answer->Encaps
2) inform customer to disable LCP extensions. This is not required once
   1) is in place, but it speeds up the connection process.

At this point the only thing that we have set in Encaps is PPP=Yes and
TCP-CLEAR=Yes. We do not support anything else. We have never seen this
with other versions of the OS.

Matt, please pass this on to tech support to put into their knowledge
base, if they have one.

Thanks as usual for your assistance.

		Neil :-)
