(ASCEND) Modem init string for Motorla ModemSURFR ?

Does anyone have a suggested init string to use on a ModemSURFR that
wants to talk to a MAX 2000 (using K56flex)?  Someone here has one,
and can't get it to work - he says he gets connected, a bunch of
garbage characters appear on the screen, and the connection drops.
