I am currently running 5.0Ap13 on our only 1800. In 8 months, I've
had to reboot the box once to clear a FE 19:

FATAL ERROR: Index: 19 Load: b.m18 Revision: 5.0Ap13
        Date: 01/26/1998. Time: 11:25:05
        Location: b013ce0c b013d5a4 b013e218 b01b79a0 b01b7b04 b00911d0

SYSTEM IS UP: Index: 100 Load: b.m18 Revision: 5.0Ap13
        Date: 01/26/1998. Time: 11:25:40

Even though Ascend recommended going to newer code, I had no
problems with the box 4 months prior and I haven't had any problems with
the box since then. So the box has been up 72 days...

I was going to go to more recent code since Ascend introduced a
fix for FE 19 in 5.0Ap34, BUT in 5.0Ap42 they fixed a bunch of other/new
1800 problems. My guess was that they broke something in 34 and tried to
fix it in 42. I am not going to wait and find out what's broken in 42...
so I would stick with 5.0Ap13.
