Which tone are you getting?

you can disable this "ringback" tone with
        Ethernet->Mod Config->Modem Ringback=No

this is more complex, the only way to disable the tone
is to disable K56Flex, search through the list archives
for "V.8bis"... the usual solution is to have the
afflicted users stick commas at the end of the
phone number to cause the modem to wait a few extra seconds.
