Only if they are independent.  The discussion was on having a /28 and /27
used to cover an IP pool.  And the poster indicated that you'd lose the
first and last IPs of the pool, as well as 2 in the middle.  That is not
the case.  All kinds of NASes - MAXen, PM-3s, etc - do this all the time.

You do not lose IPs with each fragment updated in OSPF and VLSM.
