re: (ASCEND) Dead Air?
We get this occasionally too. We occasionally see an increase in the
disconnect/progress codes of 185/31 and 10/31 which is reported to mean
that the remote modem and host modem cannot hear each others tones. These
two sets of codes are reported to differ only in which side closes out the
session first. We believe that these disconnect causes are related to the
dead air condition.
In talking with an Ascend engineer, there is supposed to be some new code
which can help to correct this problem. Unfortunately, I don't recall
which release of TNT code this is.

Anyone out there ever experience users complaining of dead air? Basically
you call the pop site and something picks up the phone and that about as
far as you get?
