(ASCEND) P50 Failed on upgrade
P50 failure on upgrade. POST loops.
P50-1UBRI SN 6098779, switch on back, coaxial power connector,
Part number 0700-0260-002 B REV AD
Assembly 1300-0268-001 REV C
I used tftp to upgrade from 4.5B to 4.6Ci18. I had to use the serial
port to assigned phone numbers and an IP address, then the restored the
configuration by tftp. Everything looked OK, so I glowed with
confidence.
I then proceeded to upgraded to 5.0A. TLOAD appeared to work properly.
Several nice rows of dots quickly showed up on the screen.
Upon getting the > prompt, I entered NVRAMCLEAR to reboot and the unit
has not worked since.
POST runs over and over. I've tried jumping P6 near the CPU. That yields
a few characters on the terminal screen, but nothing more. I've also
tried jumping P1. The yields nothing on the terminal. Jumping P3 (near
center LED, also labeled RS1) also yields nothing. When I remove the
jumper, I'm back to POST (again and again).
Any other suggestions to try before we RMA or trash the unit?
I guess I foolishly assumed that upgrading the unit would improve
performance.
