Re: (ASCEND) FCC Says Let modems go to 56K.



George, one of our techs puts it like this: "When I bring my machine to
office and dial in  I get a solid 48000 connection with my v.90 modem. When
I use that same machine at home I only get 26400. Line qualities vary, if
your lucky you'll be able to take advantage of v.90. I wish I could."

For some reason people don't feel so bad when they're doing better than the
ISP. George lives 8 miles outside of town and is on analog carrier, too many
flip-flops for 56k.

Over all I'm very please with v.90.

PS: Thanks to everyone who helped me get my Max 4048 set up a couple of
weeks ago. My disconnects were caused by slippage on the T1 that the telco
finally fixed :)
