An Access-Challenge with Reply-Message attributes does not have the same
functionality as the Ascend-Menu-Item.

But if this is indeed what is meant, and the "Menu" attribute was really
the Reply-Message attribute, then you will be happy to know that Ascend
does support the RFC Access-Challenge with RFC Reply-Message attributes.

I am curious to know how you would accomplish the equivalent of the
following functionality in a vendor neutral way using only the RFC
Access-Challenge with RFC Reply-Message attributes.

  DiagUser Password = "Validate"
        Ascend-Menu-Item = "show ip stats;Display IP Stats",
        Ascend-Menu-Item = "ping 1.2.3.4;Ping server",
        Ascend-Menu-Item = "show arp;Display ARP Table"

I await enlightenment.
