Stick with 57600 bps!
I had this happen to me last week while upgrading to v6.0.0 (the binary file
somehow got corrupted and I had to reload v4.6C, then v5.0, then v5.0ap33, then
v6.0.0, but that's another story).
When you see the CKCK.. string, that's your cue to XMODEM your binary file from
your PC to the Max. If you're using Hyperterminal under Win95, choose 'Send
File', and ensure you use XMODEM 1K as the protocol, then choose the file you
want to transfer. The file will be uploaded, the Max should re-start itself,
and you should be OK.
If the Max comes back with a message like "file too large', then you need to
load an earlier version of the code - that's why I had to start with v4.6C and
work my way up.
Hope this helps you.

Michael
