(ASCEND) 2 Ip adress on Max 4000

I tried to install a second Ip Address on a Max 4000 5.0Ap36
EtherNet -> Mod Config -> Ether Options -> 2d  Address : xx.xx.xx.xx
xx.xx.xx.xx is located on a different network than the primary Ip address

1) show ip adresse doesnt show any new interface, nor any new route
2) I cannot ping the Max on its second address xx.xx.xx.xx (even if the ping is done on the Max itself)

Any idea anybody ?
Should I try to reset the Max ?
