(ASCEND) Max 4004 freaked all day yesterday
I have an open ticket with the support guys at Ascend but this is basically
what was happening.
The Max was dropping all or most of the calls and posibly rebooting. If it
was rebooting it wasn't leaving any power-up messages in the Fatal-history.
Based on the slow response from the telnet session while it was dropping the
calls, it felt as if the load was so high that ethernet activity was no
longer a priority.
Bell hasn't explained exactly what was happening on thier side but they did
indicate that they might have been having syncronisation problems internally
between thier switches. If that was the case, why does the Max drop
everything if one B-chanell on a T answers a call from a remote switch that
is not sync'ed properly? can malformed data on one B chanell really cause
the max to drop all 24? (or 95 since i'm using NFAS w/ 1 D)
I saw something similar about 2 months ago on a Max 2000. In that situation,
the 2000 Rebooted every 7 or 8 Mins but when i swapped it with a 4004, the
T-1 seemed to lose syncronization every 7 or 8 Mins but the unit didn't
reboot.
This would be a real shame if it was another PCanywhere type BUG or even a
hacker.
