(ASCEND) Bug report: Modem calls using Perm/Switched
Hardware: MAX 1800 (I suspect it would happen on the 40xx too)
Software: problem confirmed to exist with both 6.1.0 and 6.1.7
Problem:
If a connection profile is set to:
Telco Options...Call Type=Perm/Switched
Telco Options...Data Svc=Modem
then the call will be placed as a voice call, but without using a modem
(i.e., the same as if Data Svc=Voice). This will obviously not work
unless the other end is expecting a data-over-voice call.
It can easily be seen that this is the case by noting that the call is
completed too quickly for a modem, and by watching the 20-000 Modem Stat
display. No modems show up in use while the call is active.
As soon as you set Call Type=Switched instead of Perm/Switched, the call
is able to complete correctly, using a modem.
