We went through the exact same thing when we added a TNT. The answer is very simple: OSPF. I cannot believe how much simpler it is than static routes. Make _sure_ you're running current code. OSPF was hell in earlier versions, and still is for some. My feeling is that you'll be fine with such a simple setup. Just get the two 1800s running OSPF out the Ether ports (assuming they're on the same wire; enable it for each other's connection profile otherwise). Use all the default settings; there's nothing really to know for your situation. When you've got the boxes speaking OSPF to each other, disable the static routes one-by-one, making sure each client still works. Then, sit back and be amazed that it works. You'll never enter a static route again.
