You could tell the users to put a pause after the dial-string (by adding
some commas after the number) that would tell the modem to *wait* a couple
of seconds after "connecting" before it starts training....that would bypass
the "beep" - or V.8bis tone - at the start.

This V.8bis tone was added to the K56Flex negotiations to interoperate with
Lucent modems. When the K56Flex world was Rockwell/Rockwell it was not
needed, but would not work with non_Rockwell K56 modems....
