     Nevermind,
     
     The problem was with the radius profile and not the MAX configuration.
     
     I hate it when I waste time on something simple!!

Subject: (ASCEND) Entering PPP Mode on MAX

     In preperation to upgrading our MAX4000 from 4.6c I have loaded 
     5.0Ap10 on our test MAX. When dialing in via modem I get thrown into 
     PPP mode automatically. I want to stay at the command prompt and 
     manually enter PPP mode.
     
     Under term serv options I have PPP direct=No.
     
     Is there something else I am missing??
