RE: (ASCEND) RADIUS swamped with 'pools-xxxxxxx' authentication requests

We have this problem on our MAX2000 5.0Ap16 about once a week at the
moment. It seems to be the MAX losing its RADIUS Auth Key
(Ethernet->ModConfig->Auth->Auth Key). If we momentarily change to
another authentication scheme, exit far enough to save it, then change
back to RADIUS for authentication and retype the Auth Key again the MAX
becomes sane again.

hope this helps,

philip ross

Subject:	(ASCEND) RADIUS swamped with 'pools-xxxxxxx'
authentication requests

	Hi all,

Yesterday we suddenly started noticing an extremely large number
of
RADIUS authentication attempts from a user called 'pools-xxxxx'
where
xxxx is the name of the MAX.

Our dial-in customers are allocated IP addresses from a pool,
but this
pool is statically defined on the MAXen.

What causes one of these requests to come through?
	How do I stop them?

	TIA
	Ben
