(ASCEND) Broadcast UDP and Max 4k
Any reason a max 4k replys to brodcast UDP?
23:16:51.053712 max1.ao.net > chaos.ao.net: icmp: 208.5.41.255 udp port netbios-dgm unreachable
This sets up some really silly chattering when a SAMBA server or NT box
is sitting on the same wire as a max. None of the other hosts not running
netbios services complain...
It may be because the max is on 208.5.43.0 (to keep it and it's dialins
on the same subnet) but comparing ff:ff:ff:ff:ff isn't that bad a hit...
Dosn't really matter as the MAXes are migrating to a new rack where
they share a wire with only other MAX boxes, but it is never a good idea
to respond to a broadcast packet...
Espically on low UDP ports! ;-)
