Nolan,

On the traceroute, it appears that you are using M$'s traceroute
utility.  If this is indeed the case, there is a known problem with it
that causes the * * * on the first hop.  If I remember correctly, it's
just that tracert reports it wrong or some such, I'm sure there's
someone out there on the list that can give you more complete info on
this.  I'll check my archives to see if I can find where this has been
discussed before on another list.
