(ASCEND) Sudden disconnects
Our old MAX (5.0a e.m40 with 6 x 8 old modems) has been working fine
without any problems.
We have installed the same configuration on our new MAX 4060 (5.0ap11
eik.m40 4 x 16 new modems) BUT a few of our customers are experiencing
disconnects (cause 185) about 25 seconds after connecting. The customers
have Motorola Lifestyle or USR Worldport or USR Sportster modems.
If they dial into our old MAX they have no problems.
There have been a number of postings to the newsgroup about 'Cause 185' ,
'Motorola Lifestyle', 'Sudden disconnects', etc.. Although they are
similar to our problem, none of them seems to be exactly our problem.
The only differences between our two MAX's are:-
4000 4060
5.0a 5.0ap11
old 8modems new 56k 16modems
So although this looks like an interoperability problem between a MAX and
certain makes of modems it is in fact a problem with either ap11 or the 56k
modem cards??? It is very strange as the modems have negotiated, logged on
and everything seems fine, so no problem with the modems, but then 25 secs
later the line drops. Both modems say the other end has dropped the line.
OK it could be a problem with the phone line dropping DTR for an instant,
but always after 25 secs ???
What should we do ???
Is this a known problem?? (Our UK Distributor is not aware of a problem)
Is there a later version of the software that fixes this ??
Is it a European problem (ie E1 code rather than T1) code ?
We are going to try 5.0ap16, if that does not cure the problem we will have
to
take our new MAX out of service and go back to our old MAX until ASCEND fix
the problem.
Can anyone help ?
