        Uhhh... this would mean that PairGain's Raleigh, NC engineering
        staff did not understand my question at all.

        Even 1,000 feet is longer than I needed to run the RJ-48,
        but now you have me wondering if the phrase "maximum length
        of the customer premise RJ-48 cable between the PairGain 
        HRU-412 Issue 1 Remote Unit at the customer premise and 
        the customer's CSU/DSU" has more than one possible meaning.

        I will check with them (again), and report back.                

        So much for my attempt to make life easier for the group.

        I think I'll shut up and go back to slogging though the
        mess in my lab... Anyone need a Pipeline 130 manual? I've got
        untouched extras lying around underfoot, and they go to the 
        most imaginative swap offer.
