Yes. Get and compile Taylor UUCP for the Unix box, if it is SunOS.
Otherwise, it won't work. :-)

We went through this about 10 months ago, a customer had a Sparc 1+
dialing in via UUCP to get his mail and somehow the Sparc would set the
parity/whatever in such a manner that certain characters simply would not
be transmitted to the Ascend box. Really, really broke authentication.

After installing Taylor UUCP on the box, all was well.
