Re: (ASCEND) disabling modems
While the below is true, my experiences are that while 1 modem is
"disabled," the disabled modem is 1 of 24 that are associated with 24
incoming T1 channels. What happens to us, in this situation, is that when
23 calls are in progress all is fine. When the 24th call comes in for the
now disable modem, the 24th call rings but is never answered. I would
_want_ it to ring busy, and then hunt around the bad modem to our next
Ascend MAX, but it does not.
We are running Ascend 4002 MAXs, with Software +4.6C+, Framing Mode=ESF,
Encoding=B8ZS, Rob Ctl=Loop-Start, FDL=AT&T.
I have seen this disable modem question/problem before on this list (I've
even asked it!) and I have not seen or read an answer that I can
understand.
If someone _knows_ wants amiss here, with our configuration or software
realease level, etc. I'm interested in learning about it, because as it
stands, this a _major_ problem. When _any_ modem is bad we have to get the
whole 12-modem board swapped out, because the "disable" process does not
cause the associated incoming call to hunt around the disabled modem.
