Be aware of the USA laws about bringing your stuff back into the USA. The TSA *can* take your computers if they *think* they have a reason to do so. Without a very good lawyer, you are unlikely to get anything back.

You may want to consider taking a cheaper computer, or rented computer, specifically for this trip just in case you have problems. I haven't heard of any major cases recently, but a few years ago TSA were taking lots of personal laptops because TSA claimed people were "suspicious". Very few of these people have since been proven to have been problems or threats. I haven't heard if any of these people actually got their stuff returned.

Just be aware of what TSA can actually do - they like to try to justify themselves periodically and stupidly.

Subject: [tclug-list] Tech prep for overseas travel.

I'm heading to Italy in a week for a week-long vacation (Florence & Rome).
What tech prep or tech travel tips would you suggest?
