I have been using an HP dv7 2022 at work for almost a year now. Works fine
under Ubuntu if you make sure to have the correct video drivers. Mine
detected the wrong one and I had to manually install the correct driver.

The fan can be loud under extreme load but I have never had mine shut down.
Every so often though the machine will not shut down normally and I have to
froce it to shut down. I like that it has a second drive bay in it which
now has a solid state drive. Beware, last I checked, memory for these is on
the high side.
