(I don't use my computer to watch movies, because they look and sound better on TV.) First of all, I watch all my TV through a computer. Computer outputs to a TV and it looks just fine. As for your WMV file - if you can't play it on Linux using ANYthing (mplayer or VLC) I have to assume the file has some DRM on it. It'd be extremely unusual that anyone would let you just download a movie and not attach some kind of DRM for it. I'd try this experiment - can you play it in Windows using a different player than Windows Media Player? Want to put it on a memory stick and bring it to the meeting on Wednesday and we can all try playing it on our Macs? Or I can. It's a good movie, by the way. Funnily enough I already have it on DVD and I just ripped it to a digital file! -Yaron --
