Do you have a throwaway computer? A Linux distribution with Postfix, 
Apache, PHP and Squirrelmail would probably be right up your alley.

I have all 4 but not running through LDAP-AD. And AD isn't that 
difficult to authenticate against (doing it on intranet web login at my 
day job).
