I can think of all sorts of reasons for using Solaris, but I'm  
struggling to think of a benefit to installing Solaris on LVM,  
assuming it's even possible.   LVM is the Linux Volume Manager.   
Solaris isn't Linux.

You can use the Solaris Volume Manager ala http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/816-4520/roadmap-10?a=view

ZFS and VxFS are popular filesystem choices as well.
