Ah, yes.  Dependency hell.  Welcome to the world of rpm. ;-)  There
are tools out there that will help you automatically resolve
dependencies and install them along with your desired software.
SUSE Linux uses YaST.  The http://www.opensuse.org site has a page
that describes "Upgrading SUSE" at:

	http://en.opensuse.org/Updating_SUSE_Linux

I suggest you start there.  And here is a generic page for package
management:

	http://en.opensuse.org/Category:Package_Management

It appears that SUSE also uses apt!  This is a good thing.  Apt is
incredibly easy to use.  Essentially, you type:

	apt-get install fluxbox

And VWOOOM!  All the packages you need are downloaded and installed
along with your fluxbox.
