I just compared an old HP Pavilion power supply with that inside of a Dell Optiplex GX260 and the wire color codes are exactly the same. So unless Dell is using a different color code for their power supplies, any ATX compatible power supply should work in a Dell PC. IANAEE but when I wanted to replace the power supply in my Poweredge 1400 SC I have talked to people at endpcnoise.com and pcpower&cooling they both told me that a standard ATX PSU will not work.
