Thanks to those who gave me feedback on installing Debian Sarge from the release candidate network install. I tried it... base install plus X plus kde took about 5 hours, and Grub detected every other os on my hard drive and set up the bootloader, including keeping the ide-scsi parameter where I needed it for my cdrw. Very nice. Thanks again.
