IANAL. etc. etc. When you activate windows you have to click a box
stating you agree to the end user agreement. according to microsofts
bottomless legal resources this qualifies as a signature. If your
machine came already activated either the manufacturer or the retailer
is in violation of their reseller agreement.  Whether it is legal to
ignore the agreement or not, I would bet, if microsoft chose to come
after you, you would be out more than a few hundred bucks all said and
done. But I encourage anyone who I am not fiscally responsible for
stand up and fight the man!
