Hello all. My apologies if some of you are part of both LUGs and get this
twice.
I just got back from a meeting with my superintendent where he gave me the
go ahead to get training on Linux. Yippee!

Could you recommend a place to get intensive, hands-on Linux training,
preferably in central Minnesota?

I have been doing online tutorials but I never get to stay at them long
enough to retain what I am learning. I would like to go somewhere away from
my work and family for a few days so I can concentrate on learning. I can
probably get the superintendent to let me attend up to two 1 week classes if
he is convinced they are really good classes.
I need to, at a minimum, learn how to install and configure workstations and
servers, how to set up and administer users and groups, how to set up access
rights for directories and files and how to keep my systems up to date and
secure. I will eventually go for a Novell Linux certification.

We currently have a Cobalt Qube 3 (modified RH 6 or 7) and a white box
running Slackware that is supposed to be a proxy/filtering server (probably
soon to be moved to a Dell PowerEdge and changed to RH), and I am
considering converting a lab of Win95 PII/266's to some flavor of Linux to
get a little more life out of them, so I will have machines to work with to
remember what I learn. At this time, I do as little command-line stuff as
possible but I can probably pick it up - I used to do DOS <yech!>

TIA.
