I think the point is that in this case the problem _is_ getting
the dependencies for backuppc installed.  That is the kind of polish
that a good distribution provides.  I am sure there are several
distributions that would isntall backuppc easily.  I also know
from experience on Solaris that struggling with CPAN packages can
be frustrating.
