Do you have ssh access into the box?  Since I know grip, I would
ssh in and run grip remotely.  Grip can be configured to do
exactly what you want.

There probably are command line utilities that would do it as
well, but I haven't used any of those in a while.  I even wrote
my own perl script long ago that did something similar.  I'd be
willing to let you have it, but I am sure that there is something
better out there somewhere.
