"I'm having a strange problem with Firefox and Ubuntu on my notebook computer. Since yesterday, I've been getting the message "The connection was refused when attempting to contact ___", for some addresses including www.yahoo.com and www.google.com. Others, incuding slashdot.org, www.hclib.org, and www.newegg.com, appear to work OK. " p.s. -- A couple things I forgot to mention. 1. The web pages that I can access are current, so I know I'm not getting copies from a cache. 2. Firefox is set to block pop-ups, and allow cookies, and java and javascript are enabled.
