I'm having a strange problem with Firefox and Ubuntu on my notebook
computer. Since yesterday, I've been getting the message "The
connection was refused when attempting to contact ___", for some
addresses including www.yahoo.com and www.google.com. Others, incuding
slashdot.org, www.hclib.org, and www.newegg.com, appear to work OK.

When I run the same computer with Knoppix, I can access yahoo and
google. I have the same problem -- can access some sites and not others
-- with the KDE Konqueror browser. So I think the problem must be some
security setting in Ubuntu that I've inadverently changed. I'm not sure
where to look, and I can't get to Google to look for clues. Does anyone
have any suggestions, or can someone tell me in which files to look for
what's blocking some web sites?

Thanks,
Kraig
