Have you added 'eepro100' to /etc/modules on the new system? I generally
also create a file in /etc/modprobe.d or /etc/modutils (depending on 2.6
or 2.4 kernel) called 'network' that contains 'alias eth0 eepro100' and
run 'update-modules'.
