A while back I attempted to do a perl upgrade and ended up with two
versions, which caused me a lot of headaches. I am helping a friend out and
do not want to cause him any undo problems.

He is running redhat 8 with perl-5-8.0-55 installed as an rpm. Will a simple
rpm -Uvh of the newest perl rpm work, or do I have to use an older version
for redhat 8?

Maybe there is more to consider??
