OK  I'm thinking of the way serial ports work now.
This machine has a possible 6 USB / uchi (I think) ports to use.

(thinking out loud) Is it possible to turn off 1 or more of the ports, 
and free up an IRQ

I'm looking at the book now....

OK now you can set the USB to have only 2 ports enabled.
I believe from what the book shows "all enabled" is the default
If you only need 1 USB device select 1 USB Port

See if that works and let me know.
