I don't believe that acpi is installed by default on 9.1.  You must
also add a kernel option to get the support (look at /etc/lilo.conf:
you should find a list of alternative boot options.  they'll all have
some kernel options (append=foo=on,bar=off, etc.).  Make sure there's
acpi=on there.)
