http://www.dcresource.com is a good resource for reading
about these things.  The biggest hint I've got for quality
(build as well as image) is to go with a traditional camera
manufacturer such as Nikon, Olmpus or Canon.  The cameras
already mentioned are all good choices.

And if you want a suitable printer the Epson Stylus Photo is
the way to go!
