I far *far* prefer mailing lists to web forums.  Web forums I always
drift out of after a day or two.  Mailing lists remind me of their
existence regularly, and keep me engaged.  

(I do, of course, have them sorted into directories by list, and read
them with gnus as part of my netnews pass.)
