v4l2 is the next generation Video4Linux interface.  xawtv's web page has more 
info.  Did you recently add devfs support?  I know when I tried to go from 
non-devfs to devfs it screwed up a bunch of permissions and such for many 
things, including the tv card.  

The other thing to look at is the module paramters, the errors seem to be 
somewhat hardware related, do you need to pass any specific options to the 
bttv driver? You might try insmod-ing the drivers by hand once to see if that 
is the cause.
