A year ago I tried using an nvidia fbcon and XFree with nvidia's drivers. ...It locked the machine hard soon as X started every time. If you're using any kind of fbcon, try it without. If you're using textmode, then its a bug. Complain to nvidia and perhaps try it with VESA fbcon or something. ;P
